trips

Recently I've been really busy and have been somewhere new every weekend. First it was my grandparents in Boston Spa, then I spent the weekend in London for my cousin's 21st, and the weekend just gone I went home. Traveling to all these places on my own, especially finding my cousin's house in London, has made me feel much more independent and more comfortable with Leeds. Decided that I don't actually ever want to go home, when I went back on Friday intending to stay until Sunday, I came straight back Saturday afternoon because home didn't feel like home anymore :s

Hmm though, I finally got my diana+ photos back.. 17 days later and like £20ish here they are! I'm dead chuffed with them and cant wait to get my colour film processed, but after I've used up all my 120 film I think I'm going to convert it to 35mm, as this is far too expensive.
This is from Heather and Heathers Tubetastic Mission, when we went to climb on some concrete tubes in a field and look at a barn which had trees growing inside it. We didn't got there for any particular reason, other than we both had new cameras and wanted to go somewhere with our free Saturday. I think this picture is suuper as the light is spot on, and I missed her head out. Can't quite remember if I did it on purpose but I like it all the same.

This one is Jasmine and Rowan on Gooseholme back in Kendal. It's a small grassy plain/field type thing by the river and has benches to sit on and lots of trees. I seem to remember that they were just walking towards me but it looks like they're dancing haha!

Out of the top floor window at The Plaza.

I got my diana+ camera for my 19th birthday, when we were coming back from France on the ferry. Me and my little brother Nick messed about with it a bit and took a few photos of each other. Nick looking windswept ^^

This is just the ceiling of the lift in the ferry, when I scanned it I did it upside down by accident but then realised that I prefer it this way round. Just the pattern of bright light on the dark, and you can see the reflection of the lights in the shiny walls in the lift.

Think I've got around 25 photos from these films, the rest of the pictures are on my flickr here.

about me?/

I've decided to start a new blog about myself, a little more personal than my reportage:leeds blog, which I can use to record my feelings, emotions and day to day life whilst undertaking my first project at Leeds College of Art and Design.

So, so far I have really been enjoying college, especially the people there which has been super. It's taken me a little bit to get used to the course as it's completely different to my AF back in Kendal College, which I hated. I didn't like how we had to narrow ourselves into a category of either fine art or graphic design, as I like both. VisCom is really good because it means I can basically do anything, so at the moment I've really been enjoying photography and using the dark room, and also how I can annotate my work in a blog rather than just a sketchbook. It's much easier and cheaper than having to print everything and stick it in!

For my first year, I'm living at The Plaza, which is right by the centre of town and only about 5-10 minutes walk from college. Next year I should hopefully be living in a house somewhere near Hyde Park, ideally. I didn't really like it at first, because it seemed that all my friends we're living in different halls and it's also really quiet here, but I'm starting to enjoy it and especially living so close to town. Back at home it took me about 20 minutes to walk into town and here it takes about 5, so I'm getting to know the city centre quite well. It's a pretty good location for nights out, and shopping :D of course as well as for going out with my camera at odd times in the day.
